This painting represents the exuberance of new life as reflected both by the profusion of delicate shower tree blossoms and by the delighted 2-year old (the artist's grandson). Shower trees are quite common in Honolulu, and each year, around mid June, they quickly blossom into a veritable explosion of glorious color and texture which can last for many weeks.
